In a horrible incident that took place today, a man was shot dead by a fellow bus passenger near Sattur in Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu. According to the sources, the deceased has been identified as Karuppasamy of Valluvar Nagar in Kovilpatti. He was aged around 30 years, Police said. The unidentified murderer jumped out of the bus and escaped from the spot.

Karuppsamy boarded the bus at Kovilpatti and took a ticket to Madurai. He was sitting in the rear portion of the bus. A man who was sitting near Karuppsamy took out a gun and shot him after a noisy argument. The incident took place at around 11 am when the bus was nearing Sattur.
Panic prevailed in the bus as other passengers started screaming. The driver then halted the bus near the roadside. Using the opportunity, the accused vanished from the spot with the weapon used for the murder.
Police officials including Virudhunagar district superintendent of police Rajarajan rushed to the spot. The Sattur Police are on a lookout for the murderer.
