Rash and negligent driving have been the main cause of the rise of accidents and deaths in Goa. Accident deaths have become more serious than the evil crimes in Goa. In an accident on National Highway 17, Dhargal on Tuesday morning, a motorcyclist from Takwadi, Dodamarg was crushed to death after his vehicle came under the wheels a KTC bus. According to the sources, the bus was reportedly on the wrong side of the road. The motorcyclist died on the spot. Read the complete report here.

[su_expand more_text=”READ MORE” less_text=” ” height=”0″ hide_less=”yes” link_style=”button” link_align=”center”]According to the Pernem Police, the incident took place at around 8:30 am when the deceased, Samir Pilarnakar, aged 25 years was proceeding towards Anjuna for work on his motorcycle and the KTC bus was proceeding towards Belgaum from Panjim

Pernem Police rushed to the site and conducted panchanama. Police sent the dead body to Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim for post-mortem. The Pernem Police have arrested Santosh Chandrakant Naik, aged 53, a resident of Khandola Marcel for rash and negligent driving.

An increase in traffic accidents is reported on daily bases, both in India and more particularly, in Goa. It is a matter of concern and needs priority intervention by the State Government. Most accidents occur due to negligence and rash driving and this indicates a disturbing scenario, which points towards a deeper societal problem requiring urgent attention by the Government and community workers.

This requires a dedicated focus to save and improve the lives of hundreds of Goans who face the trauma and after effects of the road accidents.
