New twist came in Sheena Bora murder case when media managed to reach on the doors of Indrani’s live in partner Sidhartha Das in Kolkatta. According to the news published in the Hindustan Times, Kolkatta edition “Das whose identity and whereabouts were the matter of speculations for the past few days was traced by the media, living in a small two bedroom apartment near Dum Dum and has been happily married for past 17 years and lives with his wife Babli and a son” Das told the media that he is ready for the paternity test but he cannot afford the trip to Mumbai “I am also ready for a DNA test. I want to help the probe, but I can’t afford a trip to Mumbai,” Das told Media. He also claimed that he is ready to support the Mumbai police in investigation “I am ready to extend all sorts of cooperation to Mumbai Police. If Indrani has killed Sheena, she should be hanged,” he said.
It is to be recalled that Sheena was killed in April 2012 allegedly by her mother and former media honcho Indrani. Sanjeev Khanna, Indrani’s former husband, and Indrani’s driver Shyam Rai have confessed to complicity in the crime. Further Indrani, who was arrested last week in Mumbai, had passed off Sheena as her sister and Mikhail as her brother to her husband former Star India CEO Peter Mukerjea and everyone else. She told everyone, including her husband Peter Mukerjea and Rahul Mukerjea, his son from an earlier marriage that Sheena had gone to the US for higher studies. Sheena was in a relationship with Rahul.
Somehow Das became celebrity overnight as his phone kept ringing and huge crowd of media mobbed outside his decent apartment, he became so much shy that he refused to be photographed by media and spoke to reporters wearing helmet with face partially covered with handkerchief. He said admitting that “I am the biological father of Sheena and Mikhail. She was born on February 11, 1987. Mikhail was born on September 9, 1988. What has come out in the media is incorrect, I tried to contact Sheena many times,” he claimed. He also told the reporters that Indrani had left him since he did not had any job and was going through financial instability.
Das described his former partner as “an ambitious woman who went after money.” When media asked him if he was in touch with Indrani he snapped saying “Why should I when she dumped me?” Das narrated his story to media saying that he met Indrani in year 1986 while doing his studies in Shillong and later on they entered into live in relationship; he was never married to Indrani “I was never married to Indrani Mukerjea. Both children were born out of wedlock. We were in a live-in relationship,” he told the media. He was staying with her in Bora residence in Guwahati. During their live in relationship Indrani gave birth to two children Sheena and Mikhail after which she left Bora residence in year 1989 on the pretext of going to Shilling to never come back in his life. Das tried to establish the contact with Bora residence later but was humiliated by Indrani’s parents. According to him, he visited the Bora residence last time in year 2000 and met Sheena after that Sheena just called him once and there were no contacts between Bora and Das thereafter.
It is only through the means of media he came to know about the murder of his daughter Sheena. Babli wife of Das told the media that her husband is ready to cooperate with the media but he is not ready to get exposed in the media as it will adversely affect the academic career of their son who is appearing for SSC exam this year. “The past is past. I did not have any idea of his relation with Indrani. So I have no comments to offer,” said Babli.
“What is coming in the news is something I think she (Indrani Mukerjea) can do for money,” Siddhartha Das told to the news channel. “I want the death penalty for the people who did this,” he added. When asked whether Indrani Mukerjea left him for money, Das said, “Yes, it is possible, Indrani was very ambitious, money-minded and wanted a glamorous life,” he added.
This story is taking several twists and turns but not yet reaching to its destination. The motive behind the murder is still disputable subject while who really killed Sheena is also not yet cleared in the investigation. Police is trying hard to establish link between various parts of this case to solve this jigsaw puzzle but still in vain. Every day new story is coming up with the entry if new characters who is somehow or the other connected with this case. The entire subject is becoming more and more inquisitive day by day. No one knows where this will lead on to. Media while doing their job is also cashing it on the commercial angle.
