Goa Government Spent Over 2 Crores On The Tours of Ministers and Babus in Two Years

In the two years, 2018-19 and 2017-18, the State Government spent maximum amount on the tours of Deputy Chief Minister & Tourism Minister, Manohar Ajgaonkar and also Ex-Chief Secretary, Dharmendra Sharma. Ajgaonkar and Sharma are leading in the respective lists of ministers and bureaucrats on whose tours the government has spent money over the previous two years. 

Overall, the government spent around Rs 2.16 crores on the tours of all ministers and bureaucrats, put together, over 2018-19 and 2017-18. As per the information revealed by Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant, the government spent Rs 20.6 lakhs on Ajgaonkar’s tours and Rs 28.7 lakhs on Sharma’s tours. 

Giving the break up spent on Ajgaonkar’s overseas tours itself, the report stated the government spent Rs 19.4 lakhs. The remaining amount was spent on his tours within India.  

On Sharma’s overseas tours, the government spent Rs 16.2 lakhs and on his domestic tours, it spent Rs 12.5 lakhs in two years. 

Among the ministers, the second-highest amount was spent on the tours of Panchayat Minister, Mauvin Godinho, in the year 2017-29018 the amount came up to Rs.15.5 lakh approximately.

Meanwhile, it was also revealed that the government spent around Rs 14.2 lakhs on the tours of Siddhartha Kuncalienkar and others during the past two years.  

Also featuring in the list of ministers on whose tours the government spent a humongous sum is Vinoda D. Paliencar, Ex-Water Resource Miniter, who was recently removed from the cabinet. The government spent Rs 10.8 lakhs over the past two years on Paliencar.

Upendra Joshi an officer-on-special-duty (OSD) at Chief Minister’s Office when Manohar Parrikar was CM on whom the government spent Rs. 11.9 lakhs for his tours over the past two years.

Ex-PWD Minister, Ramkrishna Dhavlikar, who was removed from the cabinet a few months back, also featured in the list, as the government spent Rs 9.3 lakhs on his tours over 2017-18 and 2018-19.

Rs 10.1 lakhs was spent by the government on the tours of Chief Secretary, Parimal Rai. 

The information also revealed that the government had spent Rs 4.3 lakhs on Parrikar’s tours over the last two years.  

Other bureaucrats on whose tours the government spent big money over the last two years are Sanjay Gihar (Rs 9.4 lakhs) Sheo Pratap Singh (Rs 7.7 lakhs) and Daulat Hawaldar (Rs 6.2 lakhs).
