Advocate Vikram Varma, legal advisor to the honorary Russian Consulate in Goa, said that the woman was molested by the male doctor without any valid reason, in the name of “medical examination” on Tuesday. The Russian woman had filed a police complaint on October 20 that some unknown person had molested and robbed her on Baga beach, Varma said.
She had to be medically examined as a part of the investigation into her complaint. Varma said that the Russian woman was examined twice, first by a female doctor and later by a male doctor who allegedly molested her. Nobody from the Goa Medical College was available for comment on the issue.
Her legal advisor said that the complaint filed with the honorary Russian consulate in Goa has mentioned that the police delayed filing of the FIR. He said that it took almost a day for the woman to complete formalities of filing the FIR. However, when asked about this allegation, the police spokeman feigned innocence about the delay but assured that his superiors would look into the matter. Telephone calls to state Health Minister Laxmikant Parsekar also went unattended.
