If you missed out on chasing the rapids during the monsoon, worry not, white water rafting has now commenced during the winter at Tilari River. Goa Tourism in association with Southern River Adventures’ brand Goa Rafting has recently launched white water rafting activities at the Tilari river gorge. Mr. Ameya Abhyankar IAS, Director, Department of Tourism said, “Apart from giving one a taste of extreme adventure, white water rafting is also a test of skill, precision and patience. The rafting at Tilari is perhaps the most technically demanding rafting trip south of the Himalayas. This is an excellent opportunity to try your hand at a new sport and experience the thrills amidst stunning landscapes.”

The rafting activity provides an adrenaline rush in stunning jungle surroundings located approximately one-and-a-half hours from North Goa. Participants need to be reasonably physically fit. The activities begin in October and will continue till January, subject to dam releases. The tour takes two-and-half to three hours including drop to the river and back, training and running six kilometers of rapids up to class four. There will be two trips a day, available at 10:00am and 2:30pm.

  • Take the left road and proceed the next 1.5kilometers till you reach a bridge over an irrigation canal
  • At the bridge, take the dirt road on the right alongside the canal, which is on the left.  Follow the road for about 150 meters and on the right side is a parking area in front of the farm house which is the base
