IFFI opens in glittering ceremony, Anil Kapoor performed on public demand

The 46th Edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) opened in the glittering ceremony at Shyama Prasad Stadium and was attended by who’s who of Indian and international film fraternity. The hosts of the inaugural ceremony, Ayushmann Khurrana and Aditi Rao Hydari, welcomed the VIP guests on stage to light the inaugural lamp which included the actor Anil Kapoor, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar.

The event began with the groundbreaking performance of Terence Lewis who is famous for the creation of fusion dance forms in India. The Terence and its troupe really managed to mesmerize the crowd in the packed auditorium. The theme of performance was based on the evolution of Indian Cinema which has gone through phases of change. The perfect combination of art and techniques were utilized by the Terence Lewis in his performance. He was later facilitated by the Defence Minister of Goa Shri. Manohar Parrikar.

Following the performance of Terence the veteran actor, director and producer Shekhar Kapoor was invited on the stage with his team of jury members and in his speech Shekhar said that, “If IFFI is happening in Goa today, it’s all because of Shri Manohar Parrikar and if it was not for him, it would not have been possible at all, it’s your festival Mr. Parrikar,” he said looking at defence minister who was sitting in the first row. Shekhar Kapoor holds the position of the Chairman of International jury for 46th IFFI.

IFFI 2015 Illayaraja

There was special Centenary Award for Indian Film Personality of the Year which was given to the legendary music composer Illayaraja, perhaps the most humble man in the Indian film industry, who deserved this honor. He took this opportunity and appealed very humbly to all the gathered people from the high places to make the music as a compulsory subject in the school and that will help to reduce the violence in the society. He was facilitated by Anil Kapoor.

The whole ceremony went peacefully accept towards the end of it two people started shouting the slogans from the balcony that were later taken over by the security people and it was revealed that they were the two students of FTII. FTII student’s forum had warned about the protest.

The ceremony ended with the mind blowing spot performance by Anil Kapoor in which he danced to the tune of Dhak Dhak from “Beta” with Aditi Rao and another performance of One two ka four from “Ram Lakhan” with Ayushman Khurana who was instigating the act.
