According to one study was done by the India’s top most travel company Thomas Cook India, it has been revealed that Goa is amongst one of the top three most preferred tourism destinations in India for the women travelers. This fact is also supported by the people from Goa Tourism.

According to the news published by Press Trust of India, Thomas Cook India had conducted a survey of 1,215 women and out of that, 70% preferred holidaying in Goa with their fellow women friends and family. This is one of the best compliments to the current scenario of the tourism industry in Goa.

It is the only place where a woman can go out in the late night and return back home safely. That is the reason women from all over the world including the UK, USA and Russia prefer to come to Goa to spend some of their quality time in the midst of serene ambiance of Goa.

The other destinations besides the Goa that had been favored by the women for their holidays are Andaman, Rajasthan and Ladakh said the survey’s findings released in the media on Saturday. “Today’s Indian women are intrepid travelers  keen to discover the nuances of a destination, learn a new skill, indulge in engaging experiences, while having fun,” says Rajeev Kale, president and chief operating officer (MICE, Domestic and Sports Tourism) Thomas Cook India Ltd., according to a statement issued by the travel company.

The sources in the Thomas Cook also revealed that majority of women travelers polled (56 percent) said that they would actively look for non-touristy spots, unexplored routes, and out-of-the-box experiences to immerse themselves in the destinations they visit and travel like a local. The survey also revealed that nearly 70 percent of the women interviewed in the poll welcomed travel opportunities with their women friends over and above family travel. According to Mr. Kale, 78 percent of the women polled in this survey have claimed that safety and security are their primary concern while traveling and hence woman-friendly destinations like Singapore are very much on their radar.

According to the sources, the group escorted travel is most preferred amongst the Indian women. 50 out of 62 percent metro women who polled for this survey had agreed that they preferred smaller ad hoc groups, sans tour managers. Besides India, Singapore, Thailand, Switzerland, Dubai, Sri Lanka, Bali (Indonesia), and the US, among others are also the preferred international travel destinations for the Indian women, the survey found.

According to the sources in Goa Tourism Department, the beauty of Goa is in sync with the beauty of women and Goa is offering of the plethora of activities for women in the areas of fashion, shopping, films, dance, cuisine etc. One will also be interested in knowing that there is a Hindu myth here in Goa that revolves around Goddess Durga and how she too found peace here in this beautiful State from where she derived the name Shantadurga. Hence, it is proven that in Goa, women are blessed with peace the moment they set foot in the State.

The tourism minister Dilip Parulekar, it is a big honor for Goa to be get enlisted into top three destinations in India for women travelers. Goa is one of the top beaches and nightlife tourism destinations in the country and annually draws nearly four million tourists. Goa is also a safe destination for nightlife and all security and safety measures are kept in control. With the launch of the women taxi service – an exclusive service for women tourists and women passengers reassures tourists visiting Goa that Goa tourism has not compromised on the safety cover for tourists visiting the State.  Women tourists, especially single women tourist visiting Goa are on the rise and Goa Tourism is taking adequate steps to ensure that women travelers enjoy a safe and peaceful holiday in the State.” said Mr. Dilip Parulekar
