Theft and robbery are on rising in the state, and the coastal belts are more prone to such activities. In one such case, a native of Delhi, presently residing at Siolim, was robbed by four unknown persons. According to the reports, the accused blinded the victim by putting the chili powder into his eyes.

According to the sources, the incident of robbery took place on Wednesday night at Siolim. The robbers took all the belongings including the two-wheeler of the victim. The victim named Ranjit Kumar, 36 approached the Anjuna police with the grievance and lodged the complaint of robbery, said the sources.

The complainant who is originally from Delhi, and he is presently residing at Fernandes waddo in Siolim, North Goa. According to the Anjuna police, the incident of robbery took place at around 10.45 pm on a Wednesday. According to them, at about 10:45 pm at Vaddy Siolim some three to four unknown accused persons wrongfully restrained the complainant by putting their car in front of his scooter while he was on his way home from Vaddy to Fernandes waddo.

The victim (complainant) Kumar had narrated to the police that, some four unknown people stopped him on the way in the nighttime, and threw chili powder on his face. Later on, they started assaulting him with roads and sticks. During the scuffle the cash of Rs. 15000 and mobile phone of the victim fell on the road.   

The complainant further stated that somehow he managed to escapes from the clutches of assailants leaving his scooter behind. In the attack, he also lost his mobile phone & cash besides his scooter which the accused decamped with. Anjuna police have registered the offense under sections 394 IPC and PSI Vishal Mandrekar is further investigating the case.

This could be the case of street robbery at the nighttime which once became famous in Canacona, but the question here is, what are the police patrolling vehicles are doing?
