The rise in a road accident claimed one more innocent life, and this time a 20-year-old girl from Sanquelim was crushed under the wheels of the truck following a truck hit the Activa Scooter on which she was riding pillion. The accident took place on Thursday afternoon at 1.30 pm at Corlim Goa.
The incident took place on Thursday when one Ajay Naik from Bicholim was riding the Activa scooter bearing number GA-04-K-9799 along with two pillion riders namely Ms. Teja Gaude resident of Sanquelim and Priya Gawade resident of Navelim Sanquelim.
According to the sources, the accident took place when the Activa Scooter ridden by Naik was on its way to Corlim along with two pillion riders. At around 1.30pm when they reached Corlim the truck bearing number GA-07-F-5037 suddenly came out from the inside road to the main road and dashed against the scooter resulting in the instant death of Priya Gawade.
According to the sources, due to then impact the deceased Priya fell under the rear wheels of the truck and her head got crushed under the tires resulting into her instant death while the rider Ajay Naik another pillion Teja Gawade got seriously injured and immodestly shifted to GMC for treatment.
The Old Goa police have conducted the Pahnchanama and booked the truck driver Gundappa s/o Hanumantappa Harmati age 56 years r/o Old Goa and native from Haveri Karnataka under section 304 (A) IPC for Culpable Homicide causing the death of Priya.
