You are not safe in Goa if you are not a Goan?

The gang rape case in Goa has revealed the true face of our ministers who runs this tiny beautiful state. Goa is always considered to be a safe place for everyone regardless of whether Goan or non Goan. Goa does not have safety discrimination for the non goans, then why do the ministers making this discrimination among the goan and non goan? Aren’t we all are Indian at the end of the day?

When the news of the gang rape came into the light the tourism minister of Goa made weird comments on it saying that “these kind of things happen in the tourist places” describing the Goa as tourist place and the crime such as rape is common in the tourist destinations and another statement “None of them were Goan” indicates that tourism minister do not want the outsiders to come and settle in Goa, as they get involved in activities like rape. Goa is looking for the investors to invest in big tourism projects which could run into thousands of crores while describing the non goans as criminals he wants people to invest in Goa? What message does our honorable ministers wants to send across to the people who are not goans? That they are not safe in Goa? or they indulge in  illegal activities Goa?

The Chief Minister of Goa made the following statement supporting his cabinet colleague that “It is very important to note that no one was a Goan in this case” does this indicate that all of them in the BJP government think alike? Why they do not look at the broader picture keeping the discrimination away for some time? Does the Echoing the insulting words of tourism minister gives any pride to the CM of the state? He factually paused while talking to the reporters and said that he wants to make another point, before saying those words.

Does the innate sense of Goaness or whatever it is perceived to be by leaders who make these kind of remarks, exclude all else from the race of humanity and give to themselves dignity, state protection and resources at the cost of any other being not born here or is not of Goan blood? The irony cannot be starker. It is this state which is hankering after outside investment for its jobs and growth. And when two women who are not Goans get raped, the Chief Minister and the Tourism Minister remark “Oh but they were not Goans”. Do they make Goans proud when they say this? And to think people actually voted them to power. (Source: Heraldo)

Regardless of the prevailing situation in the state the responsibility of the leaders always remains their responsibility, they cannot afford to make any vague statements as it leads to send wrong message to public, it said that higher responsibility is linked with higher powers and this is the high time that our politicians and leaders must understand this and remain very careful while making the statement in the press.
