Two Tourists from Belgavi Drown at Ashvem in North Goa

Two Youth from Belgavi who were on their vacation spree to Goa drowned at Ashvem beach situated in North Goa. Despite several warnings, many tourists from the neighboring states did not take it seriously and ventures into the deep sea resulting in the tragic end.

As the tourist season is reaching its peak the tourists from the neighboring states started flocking into the state. Having fun and spending some quality time by the beach is good but venturing into rough sea and not paying heed to the warnings of lifeguards becomes costly to them.    

Here, in this case, two youth from the neighboring state of Karnataka came down to Goa for a short vacation and later they ventured into Ashvem beach but their holiday ended in a tragedy

According to the sources, both of them drowned in the sea while swimming at popular Ashvem -Morjim Beach in North Goa on Saturday evening.

The deceased have been identified as Aditya Magdum, 26 years of age and Abhijeet Magdum, 33 years of age, both from Belgavi district in Karnataka.

Police Inspector, Sandesh Chodankar, who is the police in-charge of the Pernem Police Station, stated that these two men were a part of a group of eight tourists who had traveled from north Karnataka to Goa, on a holiday.

The bodies will be sent for post mortem and a case of unnatural death has been registered.

According to Police source, the members of the group had allegedly consumed alcohol before venturing into the sea.

Chodankar also said that another person, who was on the verge of drowning, was rescued by lifeguards. Though rescued, he was injured during rescue operations.

Since the beginning of October this year, a total of six people have drowned off the seas in Goa, while 175 persons were rescued by lifeguards, who have been posted on various beaches in Goa.
