The cases of online sex rackets are on a rise in Goa. Just a few days back two sex rackets were busted by the Goa police out of which one was in Miramar and another was in Porvorim-Goa. In yet another prostitution case, Porvorim Police busted another online sex racket and rescued two victim girls from West Bengal. Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi along with the help of raiding team, laid a trap and arrested one pimp hailing from Thane- Maharashtra.
[su_expand more_text=”READ MORE” less_text=” ” height=”0″ hide_less=”yes” link_style=”button” link_align=”center”]According to the information, a prostitution raid was conducted near IHM, on the NH-17 Highway road, leading from Mapusa towards Panaji direction, wherein two victim girls hailing from West Bengal, were rescued. During the course of conducting the raid, the accused person namely Rohit Bhagit (24), a native from Thane -Maharashtra was caught red handed along with two victim girls along with white color Maruti Suzuki Ecco taxi car who came near IHM, Porvorim to deliver the girls to their prospective customers for prostitution purpose.
It is known that the accused persons were found living on the earnings of the victim girls earned through the prostitution. Investigations revealed that the girls were operating from Calangute area.
In this connection an offense was registered vide Crime No. 139/2016 under section 4,5 and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (prevention)Act, 1956 and section 370 r/w 34 IPC and further investigation is in progress.
After interrogating Rohit Bhagit, it is known that there are more persons involved in the sex racket. Porvorim Police froze three bank accounts which were used by the accused person to deposit the amount earned through prostitution and have succeeded in freezing an account of Rs 1, 10,000/- from these accounts.
The victim girls are sent to the Protective Home after conducting medical and obtaining necessary orders from the Dy. Collector & SDM, Mapusa , for care and protection. Police also attached one Honda Activa scooter which was used by the accused person for the prostitution business. During the course of the raid, some mobile phones, and a white color Maruti Suzuki Ecco taxi car is attached to the crime.
The entire raid was planned under the extreme supervision of SDPO, Nelson Albuquerque and SP, North Porvorim Shri Umesh.Y. Gaonkar. Further investigations are in progress with PI Jivba G Dalvi of Porvorim Police station.
