Mickky Pacheco absconding Case – Court issues notice to Viola Pacheco

It more than four weeks now and Goa police is still unable to trace the whereabouts of the absconding legislator and accused in slapping case Mickky Pacheco the court has sought an update on this case. The court has asked Goa Police to submit the update by tomorrow on the steps taken by them to trace Miccky in Delhi. Mickky is wanted by the Goa Police in connection with six month imprisonment for assaulting the junior engineer of the electricity department in 2006.

Judicial Magistrate First Class at Margao Puja Kavlekar directed the Inspector of Colva Police Station to remain present at 10 am with complete details of steps taken since April 9 to arrest the legislator. Police have returned the arrest warrant to the court stating that the Goa Vikas Party President Mickky Pacheco, whose party is supporting the BJP-led government, is still untraceable despite all their efforts to trace him in Delhi.

Meanwhile in another recent development JMFC, Margao Pooja Kavalekar has issued the notice to Ms. Viola Pacheco, wife of Mickky to produce the former rural development minister in the court while extending the warrant of arrest by another seven days against Mickky. The court has rejected the prayer of colva police to issue a proclamation declaring the Mickky as absconder.

Rodrigues pointed out that Lyndon Monteiro, Pacheco’s confidant, had flown to Delhi four times from the Dabolim airport over the last week and was fully aware of the legislator’s whereabouts. Alleging that police were hand in glove and shielding Pacheco, he told the court that all the cosmetic steps to nab Pacheco were to trick to take the court for a ride.

The Margao JMFC have also heard the arguments of Aires Rodrigues on his petition seeking directions to the Colva police to register an FIR against Pacheco under Section 172 of the Indian Penal Code for the offence of absconding to evade arrest which is rejected by the court. When media asked Advocate Aires about the further course of action he said that he will approach the Supreme Court on Thursday to enlighten the court about the reality of matter in the Pacheco case.
