On his birthday, Sunil Kawthankar, the Vice President of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, shed light on the plight of the people by demanding a smooth supply of water for Goan households from the Goa Government.

In response to viral images of Goa CM Dr. Pramod Sawant rallying for former BJP Chief Minister Kumaraswamy in Karnataka, Kawthankar aimed to underscore the acute water shortage Goans face as April approaches.

He alleged that the government’s failure to provide a smooth water supply has forced Goans to rely on private tankers, exacerbating economic and social problems. He also noted that the Goa Human Rights Commission has sought a solution to this issue.

Kawthankar emphasized that ensuring a smooth water supply is not only the responsibility of Dr. Pramod Sawant as the Chief Minister but also as the PWD Minister of Goa. He criticized Sawant for failing to fulfill both roles effectively, especially considering that Goa, despite being a small state, heavily relies on private water tankers.

He demanded an investigation into BJP leaders’ claims of promising 24-hour water supply, which have not been fulfilled. He criticized the BJP’s “Har Ghar Jal” initiative, stating that it has failed to materialize, leaving many households without water. He also expressed skepticism about the multiple extensions given to PWD contractors despite their failure to deliver.

Kawthankar accused some people of being content with national media propaganda, while others are satisfied with corruption. He urged voters to prioritize their families and future, as water shortages will affect children during exams.

He argued that the BJP’s guarantee of empowering women (Nari Shakti) has also failed, as women are disproportionately affected by water shortages. In conclusion, he questioned whether BJP leaders receive commissions from private tanker companies.
