The gang of thieves from the neighboring states now started targeting Goa as Goa being the major tourist destination in India becomes very lucrative for these rogues. In one such incident, the Mapusa police have arrested the gang of 7 people hailing from Hubli in Karnataka for the theft of mobile phones from various places in the Mapusa city.

Th gang was supposed to have been operating in the state for quite some time, said the sources. According to the Mapusa police investigation officer, they received the call from the unknown number stating that some people are moving around in a suspicious manner in the city.

According to the Mapusa police, Upon the receipt of information, the police immediately swung into the action and nabbed the gang members along with the stolen goods. “We immediately deputed the team of police in this task and detained the gang members,” sand the investigating officer, attached to the Mapusa police station.

After detaining the gang members, police carried out the search and recovered around 10 mobile sets from their possession, said the sources. The names of the culprits as given by the Mapusa police are as follows. Shahrukh Pathan, Mohamed Sovenure, Hussain Sab, Irshad Nawab, Shabbir Kulavanth, Santosh Kumar & Shabbir Kwandawal. All belongs to Karnataka, said the sources.    

According to the sources, this is not the only gang which is active in the state. But there are several such groups which are operating in Goa on the beach belts where the saturation of the tourist is more. The police sources said that these gang members target the crowded places.   

Most of these gangs prefer to operate in the crowded places where they can easily flick the items using their “Hath Ki Safai” (trick). In this case, the alert Mapusa police managed to nab the culprits, but what about those hundreds of theft cases in the state, which never the saw the light of justice?

This is again the case of an unemployment existing in our country, and the growing population of the youth trying to find out the ways to achieve success in the short span of time. Until unless the issue of an unemployment is addressed proactively, there won’t be a reduction in the crime rate in our country.

Most of the migrants coming to Goa gets indulged into the illegal activities, but that does not mean that every migrant is a criminal. Police need to do proper verification of the people entering into the state, and it is also the job of every alert citizen to help the police for the crime detection.
