AS GANESH CHATURTHI IS AROUND THE CORNER, SWEET MAKERS ARE IN A RUSH AS THEY EXPECT HUGE ORDERS FOR THE FESTIVAL. AS DEMANDS FOR SWEETS INCREASES THERE IS A GROWTH IN ADULTERATION OF PRODUCTION OF THESE SWEETS. SO THEY COMPROMISE ON QUALITY AND FOCUS ON QUANTITY TO GENERATE MORE REVENUE. THUS, FDA WAS ON ITS FEET TO INSPECT AND SIEZE SUCH KIND OF LOW-QUALITY PRODUCTS AND ILLEGAL TRANSPORTATION OF MAVA. DESPITE ALL THE MEASURES BEING TAKEN THEY’RE STILL OPERATING IN THE STATE.

On Friday FDA raided establishments in Parra and Duler seizing goods worth Rs. 5 lakhs and more. But, in a shocking update, the sweet makers are still operating in the same dilapidating condition. Despite the active raids and measures are taken to prevent adulterating sweets some shops still are active that makes us question how? Even after being publicly raised and exposed to their degraded products why haven’t they stopped complete production? Who are supporting these businesses?

Our team found out that Sunder sweets in Mapusa that was caught red handed mixing Washing powder and Fadki in their food products by the FDA are still secretly operating and actively manufacturing goods to sell. Bringing us to the fact that Sundar Sweets, operated by Chaganlal Prajapati at Duler, was ordered to halt production after FDA officials found several violations.

The non-compliant stock worth Rs 2 lakh was destroyed by FDA officials, while a notice was served to the food processing unit to stop manufacture. So why are they still manufacturing sweets? Well, the question remains unanswered, if the goods were already destroyed why wasn’t the shop sealed so they didn’t have any further production?

The production of all these sweets goes through a very toxic procedure with half the ingredients being inedible and extremely dangerous to health. But somehow these products find its way into the market and then into our homes that slowly poison us.

What do you think will be the best step to prevent such incidents from occurring every year on festive seasons? Why are the sweet shops found guilty of this still left to operate why aren’t their licenses are canceled? Please leave your valuable comments on this issue.
