The former Labour Minister of Karnataka, C Gurunath has apparently committed the suicide by jumping from the second floor of the Hospital. He recently underwent the surgery. The sources have claimed that Gurunath committed suicide due to a depression.

The former Minister C. Gurunath was the fiery trade union leader from the industrial township of Shahbad-Wadi when he joined the politics. The sources have revealed that Gurunath was suffering from a urinary infection due to which he was admitted to the Sagar Hospital on April 18 where he underwent the surgery.

Based on the story narrated by one of the patients who shared the ward with Gurunath said that Gurunath was going through some sort of stress. “He was depressed because of some personal issues. He wouldn’t share much with us. However, today Gurunath was discussing the same before he took the extreme step,” a patient who shared the ward with the politician told police.

The sources also revealed that, although the accident took place at 12.30 pm but the hospital informed the police about the incident only at 4pm. The police on arrival to the spot took the doctors and hospital officials to task for the delay in informing the incident to them and shifting the body to the mortuary.

The doctors claimed that Gurunath fell in the middle lobby of the hospital, right opposite the restaurant. “Patients and their family members panicked on seeing the body so we shifted it to the morgue,” they said.

The younger brother of ex-minister was not aware of the hospitalization of Gurunath has said that “We have no idea why he took the extreme step.”
