In an effort to highlight the beauty and grandeur of the Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church at Panjim, the Department of Tourism has funded the illumination of the church in collaboration with the Electricity Department.
The Electricity Department has assisted in the lighting, fixtures and other decorations while the Department foots the bill for electricity consumed. The illumination offers the best view of the church at night giving it a majestic look. It will also help in increasing the tourism value of the church, with lots of tourists enjoying the spectacle. The total cost of the project amounted to Rs. 8,00,000/-.
Mrs. Pamela Mascarenhas, Deputy Director, Department of Tourism, said, “The Panjim church is one of the most important tourist spots located in the heart of Panjim. At the Department of Tourism, we consider it a matter of pride to be associated with enhancing the beauty of one of the landmarks in the state.”
