Finally, WhatsApp has come up with a new update that has an ability to send documents over chats. The feature is visible in the latest builds and it is available via Google Play and the App Store – Android. Users with WhatsApp version v2.12.453 on Android and version v2.12.4 on iOS will now onwards see a new ‘Document’ section under attachments, which allows them to attach and share documents. With documents, it has also introduced a lot of other features too.

On Android, WhatsApp v2.12.453 that’s available from Google Play for some users shows a ‘Document’ option in the Attachments section. Not all users with the same app version could view it at the moment. However, most users on the latest app version available from the company site – v2.12.489 – are able to see it, which indicates a server-side update.

To use this new updated feature of WhatsApp both sender as well as the receiver have to update the device to the latest version of the app available on their respective app stores.  Whatsapp has also added numerous other attractive features for its worldwide customers.


Now there are total six attachment options, with Photo and Video now being combined into Camera due to the addition of Document. The document that you will share via this new feature will be shown alongside media and the newly added tabs for this part.

The WhatsApp v2.12.453 for Android additionally brings over 100 new emojis, Google Drive Backup for chats and media, 5 new language supports, and is compatible with the latest Android version Marshmallow android 6.0.

WhatsApp for iOS allows users to share a bunch of new updates photos or videos from other cloud storage apps such as Google Drive, Dropbox, or Microsoft OneDrive. Users would just need to open “Photo/Video Library” and tap “Choose from another app…” to share files. In addition to this, the update also allows users to pick from a variety of solid colours for their chat background. Another amazing and unique update allows iOS users to Pinch the video to zoom in while it is running.

Another feature to the WhatsApp is “blue ticks” (indicating that the message has been read by the receiver). Earlier, one needed to tap on the chat to open the thread and see if the receiver has read the messages or not. But one can now see the “blue ticks” directly from the main WhatsApp chat list. This amazing feature is easily accessible and can be downloaded from the most recent play stores like Google play and app stores.
