Deadly Accident on Goa – Mumbai Highway at Pernem, 2 Died on the Spot, One Seriously Injured Admitted Into GMC

Another deadly road accident has been reported in the state and this is the third major road accident reported in just one weeks time in Goa. The first was at Dabolim killing the 30-year-old youth, second at Mandrem killing 18-year-old. This accident, according to the sources, has occurred due to the mistake of the car driver who was trying to overtake the truck and thereby lost control of the vehicle.

Based on the information available from the reliable sources, a deadly road accident took place at Poroscodem, Pernem in North Goa on Saturday early morning killing two out of the three occupants of the car instantly and the third one was admitted into the GMC (Goa Medical College and Hospitals in Bambolim in a critically injured condition.

Both the people died in this accident are the residents of Vengurla in Maharashtra, said the sources. According to the police reports, the deceased have been identified as Mitesh Waradkar (35) and Bhagyashree Damle (52) both from Vengurla Maharashtra and the third person sitting on the back seat of the car was seriously injured in this accident, revealed the sources.

The Pernem police said that three persons were traveling in the car with Maharashtra registration from Vengurla to Pernem. While reaching at Poroscodem in Pernem along the NH 17 the driver of the car attempted to overtake the truck traveling in the similar direction and in the bargain hit the truck. According to the sources, the truck with a Gujarat registration was on its way from Verna to Gujarat.

According to the sources, the impact was such that the car turned turtle after the hit with the truck resulting in the instant death of both driver and co-passenger. On the receipt of information, Pernem police rushed to the spot along with the fire station crew. The injured person was removed from the wreck of a car and shifted to the GMC (Goa Medical College and Hospitals) at Bambolim by 108 ambulance service. Pernem police under the supervision of the PI Rahul Parab has conducted the panchanama.

THE GUJARAT BOUND TRUCK INVOLVED IN THE COLLISION WITH THE CAR

According to the sources, the deceased person Mitesh who was the driving the car was working as a driver with the Damle Family that is very respected and well known in the Vengurla Village. Deceased Mitesh was married and has two primary school going kids, said the sources.

After hearing the news of the demise of the senior members of the Damle family, the shops in Adeli village in Vengurla, shut down in solidarity with the family’s grief. Sources also said that Bhagyashree and Ratnakumar Damle were on their way to GMC for medical treatment. Pernem police are investigating the case. Earlier this month, the NH 17 was blocked for over three hours at Pernem after an accident involving an interstate passenger bus, a container trolley, a truck and a police van, said the sources.
