The brutal murder case of a 20-year-old girl by her own father had shocked the entire state yesterday and now the survivor has come up with some shocking revelations in this case. The incident took place on Tuesday when the accused Shankar Readdy returned from his work at the farm and discovered that his elder daughter is having a chat with the unknown person who fled the scene after looking at Shankar. This led to creating storm of suspicion in his mind which resulted in the attack. The victim girl narrated the story of the brutality of her own father who is the witness of the gruesome act. She narrated exactly what happened that day. Here is the detailed statement of Mahagauri (the survivor of the attack).
According to Gauri, her father came home that day from the work drunk and demanded the food from her elder daughter. While having his food he continued drinking at home. The deceased Sujata served him the food and asked him for the fees for the admission in the open school. On that father got furious and refused to give her money and started abusing her.
The incident took a serious turn with the argument started between father and daughter. According to Gauri, observing the argument getting more serious she went to mediate and sort out the issue. She went into the kitchen and brought her sister out in an effort to stop the argument.
Following to that her father came out with the Koita (chopper) in his hand and attacked Sujata and Gauri went to stop him but he attacked her too resulting in the chopping her fingers and grievous injuries on her head. After that, he slashed Sujata with Koita till she fell down in the pool of blood and died instantly. Gauri narrated this story while she is recovering from her injuries at the GMC (Goa Medical College)
The survivor’s brother also told the police that the family was going through the phase of depression due to the behavior of their father. “We all were fed up with the ill behavior of our father and that is why we decided to stay separate at another place away from home. Our father showed little improvement for some time and started usual abuse again. He abused and assaulted our mother and that is why I with my brother and my mother went to stay outside Goa, to study and another for a job,” he said.
Gauri’s brother also revealed that they have complained about the several occasions into the police but the Honda police refused to register the case against the Shankar Reddy. He feels that if the police had registered the complaint and initiated action, this tragedy could have been averted.
This is very shocking revelations made by the family of the accused. And it also tells the story of police negligence. Perhaps the police have some logical reasons behind not registering the cases without being pressurized by some higher ups. When will this behavior change? Maybe that day the crime rate will go down.
