The fashion line-up reads contemporary India’s fashion mavericks. Abraxas Fashion & Design Extravaganza 2014, Day 1, Nov 8: Opening Nov 8th with a high glitz strictly invitees only party, the Opening Designer Niket Mishra, a recent hit at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, will showcase his Spring-Summer 2015 collection titled `Tangerine Tango’ to a creative burst of energy in the bright hues of orange. Drawing his inspiration from the fluidity of fabric, eclectic colour and vivid sunshine, Niket Mishra will floor the ramp with sunny sizzle.
New Delhi based Showcase Designer Shantanu Singh will present his Spring-Summer 2015 Collection themed “Coral Connection Episode -1” inspired by Corals, the magical hues of the sea and her exotic sea creatures. Using Tissue, Crepe and Satin fabrics to create some unusual forms and constructed silhouettes, Shantanu has experimented with new embroidery techniques infusing a spirit of life to the garments. Launching his label in 2008, Shantanu Singh, an alumni of NIFT Kolkata, has won numerous accolades during his college days. A designer par excellence, he is the winner of the East Zone and National finalist at Smirnoff International Fashion Awards (2001), the National Finalist of Castle Lager Student Fashion Awards, One of The Best Lingerie Designers Award (2003) and the “Most Creative Collection“ award in the final year of NIFT.
Finale Designer Urvashi Kaur, a graduate in fashion from Esmod Intl, Paris (Ecole Superieure des Arts et Techniques de la Mode), has assisted international fashion moguls like Marcel Marongiu, Lolita Lempicka and Issey Miyake. Constant exposure to myriad influences and cultures through her travels abroad has been a catalyst in developing a complex body of work that goes beyond fashion and draws inspiration in art and culture. Enthused to revive the country’s vibrant textiles, Urvashi infuses the realms of the ethnic with the contemporary, leading her to earn critical acclaim and an esteemed league of patrons. Her Label “URVASHI KAUR” embodies ‘glocal’ fashion – a hybrid expression for thinking globally and acting locally. The designs are global in their construction, but defiantly Indian in their sensibility. It attempts to create an economically sustainable and culturally influential brand. Presenting her Autumn/Winter’14 collection `Shunya’ on Nov 8th, the showcase will exude hints of an almost revivalist tendency with an affinity for indigenous, hand-woven textiles, the usage of silk weaves like Maheshwaris, Chanderi, Tassar, Tissue, Matka, Kota and, Khadi cotton, displaying a timeless and ethereal quality, all the while swearing its allegiance to its creator’s artful sense of design, upstaged only by its rich, cultural connects.
Abraxas Fashion & Design Extravaganza 2014, Day 2, Nov 9: If Day 1 is sophisticated high fashion, look out for Goa’s latest fashion prodigy and making headway across fashion weeks out of Goa, Ameisha (Amna Sarpal + Lakeisha Palha). This young and dynamic duo who recently showcased at the Bangalore Fashion Week will present their collection which is structured and bold and very feminine designed to bring out the boldness and fierceness in the woman of today. Keeping Wall Street fashion in mind through a corporate theme, colours like white, black and grey in embroidered georgette cotton and formal suiting completes the look with hints of gold to jazz the style quotient. Heavily structured necklines on coats imparts a glamorous yet sophisticated look.

In 2007, he reached his milestone participating at the London Fashion Week and in 2008 he experienced the highest point in his career presenting his SS’09 collection as a solo show at Carousel Du Louvre, Paris. Passionately working for the cause of his native Bhagalpur master-weavers, he received the ‘Young Entrepreneur Award’ from the British Council in 2009. A constant face at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week since 2005, his `Rajputana’ collection launched his Indian wear into the market designed to stay.
Designer Nida Mahmood, a graduate from NIFT pronounces a rebellion against all things that is mundane, repetitive and predictable outrageously stirring out a style sense that unifies disharmonious elements together into a single unified whole. Powered by a brand that has a strong artistic veneer, her label epitomizes her design philosophy “art translated” focusing on simple aesthetics and technical aspects to embody a unique look. Her Spring/Summer 2015 collection showcase at the Abraxas Fashion & Design Extravaganza will be quirky. Models will flaunt Nida’s signature style i.e. sarees worn over jeans with blouse, pants with cop tops, dresses, shorts with tops along with quirky prints! A happy trip is guaranteed.
