In one of the most shocking incidents that took place in old Goa, police arrested 35-year-old man for raping an 8-year-old minor girl from his neighborhood. The incident said to have taken place in old Goa two days back. Here is the complete report.

Police arrested the accused on Tuesday for allegedly raping the minor.
According to the Old Goa police, the accused Ashish Parodkar, 35, had enticed the victim girl to his place on the pretext of paying her 10 and when the minor girl went to his place he reportedly raped her.
According to police, the event came to light when the victim’s elder sister noticed her younger one visiting the house of accused and followed her. But after reaching the house of accused she got the shock of her life when she saw the accused had removed all the clothes of the victim girl and was touching her private parts.
The police further said that after watching the awful incident she reported the same to her mother who immediately lodged the complaint with Old Goa police. The police have registered the case under IPC Section 376, the Goa Children’s Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the accused was arrested by the police. In her statement, the survivor said the accused had called her to his house at least five times.
Subsequently, the victim girl was sent for the medical examination and reports of the medical examination conducted on the survivor at the Goa Medical College (GMC) and hospital, Bambolim, are awaited, police said. Police will produce the accused before a local court to seek his custody for further investigation.
It is getting more and more difficult to trust the kids with neighbors. This may not be the regular affair but growing rapidly. There is an urgent need of sex education amongst the children especially the girl child. The government of Goa needs to take an initiative to do something concrete in this direction.
