THEY REACHED GOA’S FAMOUS BEACH “CALANGUTE” STARTED CONSUMING LIQUOR ON THE BEACH ITSELF, UNAWARE OF THE FACT THAT DRINKING IN PUBLIC IS NOT ALLOWED IN GOA. WHEN COPS TRIED TO STOP THEM, THE DRUNK TOURISTS ATTACKED ON THEM. WHATEVER HAPPENED NEXT, THEY HAD NEVER EVER IMAGINED…

Drinking is prohibited in the public places and that also includes the beaches in Goa. But, the tourists who are not aware of this new developments get the warnings from the police on duty, but if the same tourists decide to assault the police officers on the duty, then they are bound to face the consequences. Something similar seems to have happened with the group of Haryana and Delhi-based tourists who came to Goa for the vacation but landed in the police custody for assaulting the police personnel on duty.

According to the sources, the cops were doing their duty by restraining the tourists from consuming the liquor on the beach, but instead of following the instructions, the drunk group of tourist decided to assault the cops in return and landed in the jail. “The tourists, who hailed from Haryana and Delhi, were inebriated when they started hitting the constables who were in uniform,” Calangute Police Station inspector Jivba Dalvi told PTI.

THEY FIGHT AFTER DRINKING AND CREATES NUISANCE TO OTHERS

According to the sources, a group of 11 tourists hailing from Haryana was on their short trip to Goa. Two constables on duty at Calangute beach saw them consuming liquor and when they went to stop them the tourists staged the attack on the police. They assaulted two cops, said the officials.

“We received the call at around 3.45 informing that the group of 11 tourists all native of Haryana and Delhi is consuming liquor on the beach and that they are creating nuisance in the vicinity. When police constables went to stop them, they, under the influence of Alcohol, started using abusive words and then physically attacked the constables. Seeing the tourists attacking the constables in uniform, other tourists on the beach gathered around. Further the constables contacted on 100 number of Police control room and accordingly local police of Calangute police station reached and the spot and all the 11 tourists were apprehended and brought at police station and placed under arrest under section 143, 147, 504, 323, 332, 353 r/w 149 IPC,” Calangute PI Jivba Dalvi told the Goa Prism news reporter.

THE DRINKING ON THE BEACH IS NOT ALLOWED BY RULE
THEY LEAVE THE BOTTLES BEHIND AFTER CONSUMING LIQUOR ON THE BEACH

All the 11 tourists namely Manchand Singh, Anil Kumar, Satbir, Shashi Kumar, Subhash Singh, Anil Kumar Singh, Sunil Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Deepak Singh, Satanam Singh and Sandeep Singh were sent for alcohol medical examination at District Hospital, before producing them for the remand before the JMFC at Mapusa. The alcohol test came positive, and all have been remanded to the police custody, said the sources.

The Tourists comes to Goa for a vacation, and they should know their limits and follow the rules laid down by the concerned authorizes. Assaulting the police officers on duty is a serious crime and they cannot be allowed to take the law for granted and hence the legal action is very much necessary in this case, said the sources. Further investigation is under progress with PSI Kirtidas Gaude under the supervision of PI Jivba Dalvi.

  1. I knew that with the coming of the railways, they opened Indias bloodline to Goa. Once only acessible by car or bus Goa remained pristine with an identity all of its own even the travellers on the busses were mostly hard working goans from Bombay going home. Lets face Indians with money and class unfortunately very few, do not use the Indian Railway,so who is coming to Goa. The scum of India, 5 years ago when I visited Goa I was horrified at the filth I saw and calangute was worse than Bhindi Bazzar nothing Goan about it,you couldnt do that in Kerela, so why has Goa sold out.
