COSMETIC CLINICS ARE MUSHROOMING IN THE STATE OF GOA LIKE NEVER BEFORE BUT MOST OF THEM DONT EVEN HAVE VALID LICENSE TO PRACTICE. THIS IS THE STORY OF ONE SUCH CLINIC SITUATED IN CALANGUTE. A CONSUMER WHO VISITED THIS CLINIC FOR HAIR TRANSPLANT HAD SUFFERED FROM HEADACHES, GIDDINESS, AND BOILS FOLLOWING HIS HAIR TRANSPLANT FOR WHICH HE HAD FILED AND WON THE CASE AGAINST A COSMETIC CLINIC IN CONSUMER FORUM…

Following the transplant of 1,000 hairs, the consumer suffered severe headaches, giddiness, and boils which prompted him to file a case against the cosmetic clinic. The case was won by the consumer for which the cosmetic clinic compensated Rs.1 LAKH for the mental agony that was caused by the negligence of the clinic.

The clinic was also directed by the forum to refund Rs. 95,000 to the complainant. Authorities found that the clinic did not have a valid license to operate as a health clinic.

The consumer, a resident of Pernem following his first transplant of 500 strands, who is also a diabetic suffered from headaches, giddiness, and diarrhea and wanted to discontinue the treatment. But however having paid the full amount already he went ahead with the second session, which leads to boils on his head and left him unsteady on his legs.

The consumer had previously in 2015 entered into an agreement with the clinic to transplant 6,000 strands of hair for Rs. 1,40,000. The situation got worse after the second session.

He later approached the consumer disputes redressal forum North Goa seeking compensation and refund.

The forum members and President S Vales observed that the consumer suffered and was put through unnecessary medical expenditure entirely on account of the complete negligence and gross deficiency in service.

The quorum stated, in its order that the clinic’s “entire conduct in the matter so far has been totally unethical, unprofessional, highly casual and unconcerned and regardless towards complainant and his health”

The forum has directed Looks cosmetic clinic in Calangute to pay a compensation of Rs 1 lakh for harming a consumer with “illegal activities of hair transplant“.
