Another Train Gets Derailed – 5 Coaches of Kurla – Ambarnath Local derailed

Mumbai is one of the major financial hubs of India and Railway is the called as the lifeline Mumbai. Without railway, Mumbai would be lifeless. The derailing of Kurla – Ambarnath local is the issue of serious concern as it displays the quality standard of railway track maintenance in the India’s richest metro city. According to the sources (ANI), 5 coaches of the Kurla – Ambarnath had been derailed between Kalyan – Vitthalwadi in the wee hours of Thursday.

No casualties have been reported so far but the incident of the derailed coaches in Mumbai sends the serious signals of the low maintenance of railway tracks in and around Mumbai. According to the ANI news agency who published this news first, at least five coaches of Mumbai-bound Kurla – Ambarnath local train had been derailed between Kalyan – Vitthalwadi at around 5.30 am in the morning on Thursday. This incident came into news following the yesterday’s news of Kanpur Train Accident which took place just 24 hours before (at 5.30 am on Wednesday) leaving several passengers injured.

Although, this accident did not report any major casualties so far but according to the sources, the services between Kalyan and Karjat route had been suspended temporarily until the further notice. The Central Railways has requested local Municipal Corporation to run extra buses between Kalyan and Ambernath to reduce the inconvenience caused to the daily passengers.

According to the sources, several trains have been diverted and few also canceled in the wake of the accident. 22105 CST-Pune Indrayani Express has been diverted through Diva-Panvel-Karjat, while CST-Pune Deccan Queen and CST-Pune Intercity Express have been canceled. This incident comes a day after coaches of the 12987 Sealdah-Ajmer Express went off track when the train was crossing a bridge over a dry canal, nearly 70 km from Kanpur.
