Many fans reacted to this report and some even questioned his patriotism. However, the CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal) officials later cleared the picture on Sunday saying that Mr. Bacchan did not charge a penny for the performance. “No, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan did not take any money from us,” the official told IANS. They also claimed that the 73-year-old actor reportedly also booked his flight tickets and paid his hotel bills himself. India beat Pakistan by six wickets at the Eden Gardens here on Saturday night.

Finally to stop all the speculation in this regards the president of CAB Saurav Ganguly came to a rescue and made a statement that ‘Big B did not take a dime to sing the national anthem at the Eden Gardens and top of that he paid he own bills from his pocket. ,”Mr Bachchan is one and only, a special person. I am eternally grateful to him” He further said, “Can you ever imagine someone paying Rs 30 lakhs of his own pocket to perform? He booked his own flight, bought his own tickets and even paid the hotel bills. I literally begged him to take some money but he said that I am doing it for love and there is no question of money being involved,” added Ganguly. (Reports DNA)

There are even rumors of burning the effigy of Mr. Bacchan by the annoyed fans. The facts can only be judged by the statements made by some of the respected people in the industry vs the rumors in the social media.
