VIRTUAL EVENT

Overview

Micro, small and medium enterprises occupy an important place in the economy by supporting the growth and development of largescale industries as well as generating employment opportunities. The post pandemic era will witness a major overhaul of traditional business models which will be empowered by digital technologies to enable every aspect of operations. Furthermore, the evident rise in internet penetration and ecommerce across the nation has widened the scope of SME’s potential markets. India has approximately 6.3 crore MSMEs (MSME Ministry data), as of May 16, 2021 – registered micro-enterprises stood at 28 lakh, small enterprises at 1.78 lakhs and midsized enterprises at 24,657. The Indian MSMEs sector contributes about 29% towards the GDP through its national and international trade.

Focal Point Goa

Focal Point Goa

As of today, Goa has a strong presence in sectors such as fishing, agriculture, tourism as well as mining and has also emerged as a manufacturing base for several leading companies. The state is in the process of developing the logistics sector by forming a special logistics group to address the existing deficiencies regarding logistics and warehousing. With the arrival of and the currently ongoing pandemic, the state of Goa has been through a turmoil – tourism, fisheries and several other industry sectors have incurred major setbacks. As per a report published by the state’s Tourism Ministry in December 2020, Goa’s tourism industry may have suffered losses between $273 million and $985 million on account of the pandemic.

The Goa MSME Conclave

Goa’s MSMEs sector has the potential to expand its production and services capabilities across its major sector, but there has been a fluctuating growth trend in recent years. There is a dire need to address the issues and bottlenecks hindering this growth. The Goa MSME Conclave is the first knowledge exchange initiative under the ‘Goa Ignite Series’ brought to you by Goa Prism. The forum will bring together visionaries and leaders on a common platform, with the intent to help businesses define their future strategy, develop growth opportunities and address real time challenges. The Goa MSME Conclave has been centred around the vision of creating a sustainable and scalable business ecology in the state.
