Goa Tourism has presented this prestigious award to the ‘Booking.Com’ Travel portal for their best performance in the category of Online Travel Agents. The award was given in recognition for a GTDC sales record, with GTDC hotels recording sales of more than one crore for the financial year 2016-17. The award was accepted by Mr. Jedesh Kozhippalli, Hotels- Senior Account Manager, India and Ms. Simone Pardiwalla, Content Specialist, India on behalf of Booking.com.
GTDC was one of the first tourism boards in India to sign up with Booking.com which is one of the largest travel e-commerce companies in the world. Over the years, a lot of business is being generated through online bookings of GTDC residencies. This year, there was an overwhelming response to an increase in the sales revenue. If one recalls, in 2016 Booking.com awarded Calangute Residency with a Guest Review Award for its excellent guest review rating on the Booking.com site.
A small Dutch startup established in 1996 in Amsterdam, booking.com has since then grown to be one of the largest travel e-commerce companies in the world. Part of The Priceline Group (NASDAQ: PCLN), Booking.com now employs more than 15,000 employees in 204 offices, in 70 countries worldwide.
