Today women are not safe even in the secure atmosphere of the Hospital. This case of rape is the most shocking example of the same. According to the reports, a woman was forcibly confined in the hospital room and raped by the ward boy and a security guard in turns. While both the culprits are at large the police are doing the investigation. How this awful incident took place in this 400 bedded hospital with the culprits managing to escape? According to the news published by national daily Times of India, the incident took place on Monday night time at SHKM Government Medical College Hospital in Mewat, the Haryana district adjoining Gurgaon in which a 22-year-old woman who was undergoing the treatment for depression had been allegedly raped by the hospital ward boy and a guard.
According to the reports, culprits managed to confine the victim woman in an empty room and gagged her to make sure that she does not scream for the help and raped her repeatedly in turns. After the ghastly incident, the culprits fled the scene. The suspects have been identified as a ward boy and the security guard of the hospital neither of them has been arrested yet claimed the police.
Based on the incident narrated by the victim woman to the police, she was admitted in the Ward No. 17on the fifth floor of the hospital. When she heard the voice of ward boy who apparently called her out around 11.30pm, police said. As she stepped out of the ward and started walking towards the sitting room where her relatives were put up, she was pulled into the adjacent room by the ward boy, who grabbed her and forced her inside the empty room. The guard, who had stationed himself near the room, followed them inside and gagged the woman, police said, before the duo raped her.
They apparently raped her repeatedly in turns as the assault went on for the almost two hours said police. According to the police, they received the call from the hospital at around 1am on Tuesday. The woman’s brother-in-law, who was in the lounge, had come to check on her and found her stole lying outside a room along the passage. As he raised the alarm, the ward boy and the guard fled from the room. The woman had passed out.
The police have claimed that they have already identified the ward boy who was working in the hospital as private staff on contract basis. They are also searching the security guard who is on the run. Police have booked both of the accused under the section of rape and criminal conspiracy.
According to the sources, the victim woman is a mother of three who lives in Mewat. She was admitted to the hospital on June 2. In her statement given to the police, she stated that she was asleep in her bed in the female general ward when the ward boy woke her up saying that her son who was with her brother in law in the waiting lounge was crying and her relative called her to pacify the child.
The police stated that in the preliminary investigation they have found the involvement of two outsourced employees, including a ward boy. We have identified the ward boy and he will be arrested soon. A probe is on,” Mamta Singh, IG (south range) told TOI.
Dr. Sansarchand Sharma, director of the hospital, said, “This is a shocking and unacceptable incident. We will terminate the services of the accused and fully cooperate in the investigation.” SHKM hospital is a fairly large facility that was started in August 2012 as a tertiary care hospital. It is just 40km from Gurgaon and has 400 beds.
