Meanwhile, Babush has denied all the allegations calling it a framing of conspiracy against him and politically motivated.

According to the sources, a 16-year-old girl narrated the horrifying story to the Goa Police based on which, she was sold to Babush by her stepmother and another woman she referred as ‘Aunty’. She said that Mr. Monseratte spiked her drink and then raped her in his Bungalow.

“The next morning I woke up without my clothes, covered in blood, he was sitting without his clothes on,” the teen has told a committee that deals with protecting children. She also said her stepmother fooled her by saying she was going to meet Babush Monserrate for work and asked her to “dress properly”. Police sources have informed that they are also going to arrest the stepmother and another ‘aunty’ very soon.

According to the sources, Panaji police registered the case on Wednesday against the Goa legislature under various sections that include, 342 (wrongful confinement), 328 (causing hurt), 370 (detaining against will), 376 (rape) and relevant sections 3,4 of POSCO Act.

According to the IANS, Superintendent of Police (Women police station) Karthik Kashyap told PTI that Monserrate has been booked under, and relevant sections of the IPC and Goa Children’s Act. Monserratte, who represents St Cruz constituency, was out of town when the case was booked against him on Wednesday. He had claimed that the case against him was ‘politically motivated’. “The girl was working in my showroom and I had dismissed her for misappropriation of funds. This is a conspiracy against me,” he had said. Monserrate’s family members maintained that he is innocent and is being ‘framed’. “He will depose before the Investigating Agency once he is back in Goa. He does not want to run away from the law. He is innocent and is framed,” a family member said.

The Goa police have recorded the statement of the minor girl. “A team of officials from Women’s police station visited the state-run protective home where the girl is currently lodged and recorded her statement,” a senior official said on condition of anonymity. The victim had recorded her statement before Child Welfare Committee wherein she had alleged that Monserrate has raped her several times in the past. The details of the statement were, however, not revealed by the police.
