Following the absence of Mr. Parrikar in the day to day political affairs, the loyal BJP workers are developing a high level of discontent within the party. And, to top this, the recent induction of two Congress MLAs into the party has lead to chaos in the party. The former CM of Goa and a loyal BJP worker Mr. Laxmikant Parsekar came out in the public against the induction of Sopte from Mandrem constituency and according to the sources, he has decided to contest the election from Mandrem in the forthcoming by polls.

According to reports the voters of both the constituencies are not happy with their candidates who left the party without doing any consultation with them. Meanwhile, the Shiroda MLA Subhash Shirodkar is seen giving the explanation about his action citing it as an act for the benefit of the constituency. “I have decided to join the BJP for the benefit of my people and the development of the constituency,” said Subhash in one interview.

“Can one who utters such abuses about our national president be made the chief minister? He abused Manohar-bhai Parrikar, state president (referring to himself) and national president. He asked me to record (the abuse) and to make them listen to it.” he added.

Meanwhile, Sopte came out in the public claiming that he was offered a ministerial berth and chairmanship of a corporation in return for the switch. It may be recalled that Mr. Vinay Tendulkar had told the media that his party did not offer anything in the return for the entry of the two Congress MLAs into BJP and they came on their own. “We did not offer them anything and they came on their own, in fact, they also booked their own tickets to Delhi by swapping their credit card,” Tendulkar told the media. But Sopte is seen saying that the BJP for arranging their tickets and stay in Delhi. It is very difficult to understand as to who is lying.

Whatever may be the truth, one thing is certain that there is a high level of discontent amongst the core members of BJP. They are not happy with the induction of two congress MLAs and it looks like the BJP is going to work against BJP in the forthcoming by polls.

When the media asked Parsekar if he is going to support the BJP Candidate in the forthcoming by polls he said that there is no question of supporting anyone as the BJP had backstabbed him.

According to the sources, there will be at least three strong contenders in the Mandrem constituency besides the others. The former CM of Goa Laxmikant Parsekar will be contending the  by-polls against BJP this time while a well known name …???.. will also be contesting as an independent candidate from Mandrem. Besides the Congress is also planning to get a strong candidate this time to teach rebel Sopte a lesson.

Another recent incident that took place has confirmed the rift between Parsekar and BJP. According to the reports, Faultlines in the Goa BJP unit widened on Tuesday after state BJP president Vinay Tendulkar accused his colleague and former Goa chief minister, Laxmikant Parsekar of hurling abuses at BJP president Amit Shah and CM Manohar Parrikar.

“Avoi-voilean zo odheox galli marta ni, hanv nav uchar korit ni hangasor, mhajer ietle. Avoi voilean galli marlea amchea odheox-ak (One who utters an abuse in the name of the mother… If I say it here, it will reflect badly on me. He has abused our president in the name of his mother).” Tendulkar told Indian Express on the sidelines of a security conclave in Panaji.

“Can one who utters such abuses about our national president be made the chief minister? He abused Manohar-bhai Parrikar, state president (referring to himself) and national president. He asked me to record (the abuse) and to make them listen to it.” he added.

Meanwhile, Parsekar denied the allegations of hurling abusive words at Shah and said that he had only spoken about Tendulkar. The conversation Tendulkar referred to took shape after Parsekar was informed of Sopte being inducted in the party. Two others — Rajendra Aklekar and Dayanand Mandrekar — also from the core committee have expressed regrets on inducting the two Congress MLAs into the BJP, said the reports.

When the media asked Parsekar if he is going to support the BJP Candidate in the forthcoming by polls he said that there is no question of supporting anyone as the BJP had backstabbed him.

All the above shows that there will be no scope of settlement and the high level of discontent amongst the BJP workers will only lead to a major setback to BJP in the forthcoming elections. The major contenders of BJP are in the process of strengthening the party base in the both the constituencies and the alliance parties are playing the role of wait and watch till the forthcoming assembly polls.
