According to the sources, Panaji police have arrested the local person Ronit Nasnodkar from Mapusa under the various sections of IPC including 353 (Criminal Force to deter public servant from the discharge of his duty) for merely overtaking the Carcade of Goa’s deputy CM proceeding towards the Panaji at the Verna slope. Read the complete report here.

[According to the sources in the Panaji police, the incident took place on the Sunday evening wherein the accused Ronit Nasnodkar (25) resident of Mapusa was driving his car towards the direction of Panaji from the south Goa and the Carcade of Dy. CM of Goa Mr. Francis D’souza was also proceeding towards the same direction.

According to the sources, when the Carcade reached the Verna slope, the accused said to have overtaken the vehicles resulting in the Rash and Negligent driving (Under section 279 of IPC). The story did not end here, the sources revealed that the accused drove in rash and negligent manner and did not allow the Carcade of Deputy CM of Goa to overtake till it reaches to Panaji.

When finally the vehicles reached Merces junction where normally the traffic congestion always prevails, the accused slowed down his car. In the meantime, the Panaji police seem to have been informed over the phone about the incident and they were ready to arrest the accused which finally happened when the vehicle reached near Hira Petrol pump. Police stopped the car of the accused and detained him that finally culminated in his arrest.

According to the sources, the accused Nasdokar has been booked by the Panaji police under sections, 279 (Rash driving or riding on a public way), 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint) and 353 (criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of Indian Penal Code (IPC). Later on Monday, he was released on the bail by Panaji JMFC Court.

Police said that D’Souza was traveling from South Goa to his residence in Mapusa when he was obstructed by the car from Verna onwards. He was intercepted by Panjim Police near KTC bus stand. Police said that Nasnodkar did not allow the escort vehicle of the deputy CM to overtake him.

So next time you are travelling in any direction make sure that you make a way to the Ministers and VVIPS as they are always discharging their duties in the interest of public and crossing their way may ultimately result in the criminal intimidation under section 353 (criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty). It looks like the people’s elected servants are making very good use of the power bestowed on them by our constitution.
