[su_expand more_text=”READ MORE” less_text=” ” height=”0″ hide_less=”yes” link_style=”button” link_align=”center”] According to the news published by the local daily Heraldo, a 23-year-old air hostess who is currently working with a private airline company has lodged the complaint with Vasco police stating that she was allegedly raped by a 28-year-old man from Kerala.
The police have informed that the, according to the statement of the victim which she gave before the police on Tuesday, she was confined and raped by the accused on April 18, 2015. According to her, the accused named Sunny George (28) native of Kerala followed her till her house and later entered her house following to which he raped her.
The victim further stated in her complaint that, on that given date the accused person confined her in her own house and threatened her on the knife point. “The accused also apparently slapped the victim before raping her,” said the police.
In her complaint, the victim mentioned that the accused later had a sexual intercourse with her on several occasions on the pretext of getting married to her. However after the victim delivered the baby some six months ago, the accused did not keep his promise of getting married with her which had amounted into cheating. stated the police.
The Vasco police have registered the complaint under the following sections 354D, 342, 506-II, 323, 417, 493 of IPC against the accused person and the further investigations are on in this case.
Section 354D says, Any man who follows a woman and contacts, or attempts to contact such woman to foster personal interaction repeatedly despite a clear indication of disinterest by such woman; or monitors the use by a woman of the internet, email or any other form of electronic communication, commits the offense of stalking;
Section 342 says, Whoever wrongfully confines any person shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees, or with both.
Section 323 says, Whoever, except in the case provided for by section 334, voluntarily causes hurt, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees, or with both.
Section 417 says, Whoever cheats shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine, or with both.
Section 493 says, Every man who by deceit causes any woman who is not lawfully married to him to believe that she is lawfully married to him and to cohabit or have sexual intercourse with him in that belief, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to fine.
In the above matter, police have booked the accused in all the above section except the section of rape which is 375 / 376 and the reason behind this is said to be the matter of consensual sex here.
The rule of rape is made for the protection of women and many times it is been misused.
