In yet another shocking incident, two teenage girls, including a minor were allegedly gang-raped by five youths in outer Delhi’s Aman Vihar area on the eve of Wednesday. The girls, 18 and 17 years old had gone to the government park with their boyfriend when the accused targeted them at around 6 pm. The male friends of the girls were thrashed by the youths, some of whom may even be minors when they fought back. [su_expand more_text=”READ MORE” less_text=” ” height=”0″ hide_less=”yes” link_style=”button” link_align=”center”]According to the sources, the girls told the police that they were sitting with their boyfriend at the NDPL ground near the Mundka Metro station, when the five youths who claimed to be security guards there, approached them and started manhandling them, When the two boyfriends, aged 19 and 20, tried to ward off the assault, they were thrashed and tied up by two of the accused, who threatened to get them arrested. The girls were then dragged by them to the bushes nearby and were raped in turns. The girls were told that they would be killed if they resisted.
Later the assailants let them off after warning them not to approach the police. The girls said they untied their boyfriends and approached a PCR vehicle on the road nearby and reported the incident. They were taken for medical examination where doctors confirmed rape.
According to the locals, the accused are antisocial who live in the slum neighboring the ground. They also said that the accused had earlier molested some women’s who didn’t report the matter to the cops to avoid social stigma.
On Thursday evening, an Aman Vihar police station team identified four of the five accused and arrested them. On sustained interrogation, the quartet admitted to raping the girls. They pleaded they were minors and police are verifying their ages. A manhunt has been launched to nab the fifth accused, who reportedly led the youths.
According to the sources, the girl’s daughters of construction laborers, were employed at a factory nearby and often visited the empty plot to meet their boyfriends, who worked at a metro construction site nearby. Locals reported that since the place had no illumination, it was frequented by couples seeking privacy.
An FIR has been registered under IPC Sections 376 2 G (gang rape), 323 (causing hurt) and 341 (wrongful restraint) at the Aman Vihar police station. The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act has also been invoked.
