According to the police reports, the fatal accident involving the container truck (GA-06 T-0228) and Maruti Swift car bearing registration number GA-08 M-3420 took place in the early hours of Saturday at Jankibandh-Nevelim in which the two occupants of Swift died on the spot while remaining two got seriously injured.
“The fatal accident occurred between a container truck (GA-06 T-0228) and a Maruti Swift car (GA-08 M-3420) around five minutes past midnight on Friday. The Maruti Swift was heading towards Margao whereas the container truck was headed towards Cuncolim. The Swift was being driven by 26-year-old Malikant Divakar Naik, a native of Karwar, residing at Cuncolim. Naik along with one of his co-passengers Rahul expired. Two co-passengers – Vishal Nagvenkar of Chinchinim, 27, and Pritesh Menezes of Sazora, 29, are seriously injured and have been admitted to the Goa Medical College (GMC) and Hospital, Bambolim.” Said the police inspector Nathan Almeida attached to Margao town police.
According to the sources, the truck driver Laxman Sawant had been detained by the Margao police. “A case has been registered under Section 279, 304 (A) IPC against the truck driver Laxman Sawant,” said Nathan Almeida.
This is not the first accident that took place at Jankibandh-Nevelim but there are stories of series of paranormal activities taking place over there which is known as one of the seven haunted places in Goa. We are not promoting any ghost stories here but just bringing the available facts which villagers believe in.
