Two Delhi girls raped by 5 people in resort at Calangute Goa

Goa was considered to be very safe for the women unlike Delhi, but one of the recent shameful incidents which took place in north Goa has proved it wrong. In a shocking incident two Delhi based girls in an age group of 25-30 have been raped by group of 5 men posing as police officers. This incident took place in a north Goa resort. According to the available report two girls from Delhi who were on their holiday trip to Goa have been accosted by a group of youth posing as policemen, while they were traveling in tourist taxi at Arpora in North Goa.

As per the story narrated by the taxi driver Abhijit Kochekar who is also the complainant in this case, was on his way with two girls in his taxi to Calangute from Anjuna on the Monday evening. At around 8.30pm he noticed the groups of five people were following his taxi on their three motorcycles. While cab reaches Arpora the group of 5 had restrained them saying that they are policemen belonging to the crime branch and anti narcotics cell and demanded the search of the vehicle. Taking the advantage of darkness and empty road the accused started beating the driver and the occupants. Subsequent to the assult the accused took the victim girls with them to a resort in calangute where they raped the victim girls. Sources informed that faces of the victim girls were badly assaulted by the victims.

The accused also took the mobile phone and ATM card of the taxi driver and withdrew Rs. 10000/- cash from his account. ATM cards belonging to the victim girls were also taken by the accused. After reaching the resort in Calangute, the accused told the taxi driver to leave the place and to return with Rs 1.5 lakh as ransom to take his taxi and the girls the next day.

On the following morning the accused called the taxi driver again over the phone demanding the more money from him. Out of the fear of threat to the life driver approached the Anjuna police station that swift into the action in no time and nabbed the accused from the north Goa resort and rescued the girls. The girls then sent for the medical examination where the sexual assault on the girls was confirmed.

Police have arrested Ajay Kusbas (39),  a resident of Arpora; Jeevan Pawar (26)  of Karwar; Nadeem Khan (28) of Rajasthan; Trevor Joshep (27) from Mumbai and Kamlesh Chowdhury (21) of  Hyderabad and later produced them in front of Mapusa JMFC for the custody. The offence under sections 342, 170, 323, 324, 364 A and 395 of IPC had been registered against the accused.

The sources have confirmed that the accused were working in the resort at Calangute and some of the accused were working as bouncers, further investigation in this case is in progress under the supervision of PI Tushar Lotlikar who is holding additional charge. The police team included PI Tushar Loltikar, PI Tushar Vernekar and PI Nilesh Rane, who worked under the supervisions of Mapusa DySP Mahesh Gaonkar.
