Pratyusha worked for three years then quit the show to participate in reality shows like ‘Jhalak Dikhlaja’, and ‘Bid Boss’. Her last outing on TV was in ‘Sasural Simar Ka’ where she played a negative role. Lately, she was seen with her beau Rahul Raj Singh on the reality show, ‘Power couple’. The duo was found happy and was planning to get married soon. But there was trouble brewing as the sad step taken by her is considered to be because of her strained relationship with Singh.

She was in news in 2013 for filing an FIR against her then boyfriend Makrand Malhotra. Earlier in January, she had filed a complaint against a few men dressed as cops, who barged into her flat in Laljipada and misbehaved with her. However, a police officer denied the allegation. According to the officer, Rahul had allegedly manhandled a loan recovery agent, Amit Dalvi, when the latter had gone to collect the instalment of a car loan from him at her house on December 31.

Though not very active on social media, Pratyusha was often found tweeting inspirational quotes on Twitter. Her last Whatsapp status read, “Marke bhi muh na tuzse modana” (even after death won’t be turning my face away from you) with a smiley.

The entire TV fraternity is in shock, and have been continuously expressing their condolence. “She is no more with us. It’s shocking. I spoke to her two-three months back and she was fine that time. I am at the hospital…trying to get details,” Pratyusha’s co star from “Balika Vadhu”, Siddharth Shukla, said.

Reacting to the news, Bollywood producer Tanuj Garg tweeted, “Terrible, terrible news about Pratyusha Banerjee. Met her once at a party. How extreme must pressures be to drive one to take one’s own life.”

Bigg Boss co-contestant Kushal Tandon wrote, “The news is absolutely saddening. I know life is tough but why do you need to do this. She was so young, I don’t know what happened. Lots of strength to her family during this time.”

Another co-contestant Gauhar tweeted, “Sad sad sad. Nothing’s worth ending your one beautiful gift called life for… My heart bleeds for the parents and family…#suicidesnvrthecure.”

Expressing shock TV personality VJ Andy said, “I first read that on Twitter and thought it was an April fool’s joke. Then I got a call from Tanisha who told me the same. Then my manager too confirmed It. I still cannot believe it. I am shocked. She was so full of life, and always seemed happy. The last time I had met here she was fine and seemed ok. I really don’t know how to react now.”

According to TV actress Dolly Bindra, Rahul had contacted Pratyusha’s uncle and then she was taken to the hospital. Her parents have been severely grief stricken and will reach Mumbai by Monday, added Bindra.     [/su_expand]
