The fall of Kolkatta under construction flyover have raised the concerns over the material used in making of the bridge. [su_expand more_text=”READ MORE” less_text=” ” height=”0″ hide_less=”yes” link_style=”button” link_align=”center”] The underlying corruption in every field is becoming severe in our country.  This is not the first case of fall of under Construction Bridge in India. In the year 2014, it happened in Gujarat. This only displays the high level of tolerance to the corruption in India. People do not have option while choosing the government that can be compared to “devil and deep sea”

The fall of under-construction Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh Flyover has now raised the serious concerns over the quality and technology that was used in the construction of this bridge. According to the sources, at least, 15 people have been feared dead and hundreds of them are trapped in the debris. Surprisingly, the officials connected with the construction of Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh flyover seem to have thrown caution to the wind as the circumstances that led to the Kolkata flyover collapse are somewhat identical here. “In the wake of an earthquake as feeble as 3 or 4 on Richter Magnitude Scale, the PSC grid beam can open up like a pack of cards and whosoever comes under it would simply be crushed,” said Suhail Ahmad, a construction contractor.

According to Suhail, the safety measures have not been adhered to, by the officials and allowed the vehicular traffic allowed underneath the under Construction Bridge. “All the time, the workers have one tool or the other in their hands and as a matter of chance, these can slip from their hands and cause serious injuries to the commuters,” he said. “There is a whole list of safety measures which the officials have criminally overlooked.”

Now that the bridge had already fallen down the blame game will start in full swing and at the end of the day matter will reach nowhere.

“The construction companies have not barricaded the flyover sites,” local residents said. “Besides, they forget to install traffic signs at the sites to help commuters as well.”

“We have taken a serious note of the Kolkotta incident and we shall have a detailed meeting with Mr. Vinod Sharma who heads the Safety Management Committee to discuss threadbare the necessity of putting in place all the safety measures,” Divisional Commissioner Dr. Asgar Samoon told Kashmir Observer. It may be recalled that Goa Prism had published the article on December 1, 2015, about the New Mandovi Bridge is fighting with RUST  it has been asserted in that the poor quality material have been used by the company in the construction of the same and the same had been inspected by the General Secretary Congress Durgadas Kamat (the video attached hereby) but no action has been taking in this regards till date.
