The cases of deadly attacks and gang rivalries are on rise in Goa, recently one such case took place outside the casino office in Panaji. According to the available information the fight which occurred due to the rivalries between a taxi operator and seven of his opponents, the taxi operator Shanur Dargad Alias ‘Pulsar’ from Indiranagar Chimbel has been seriously wounded and admitted to GMC where presently he is been declared out of danger.

According to the available information this attack took place due to existing business rivalry amongst the victim and the attackers. The physical fight between the ‘Pulsar’ and seven of his opponents took place early morning around 3am outside the Casino office in Panaji. Panaji police booked the case against seven persons including four unidentified persons for assaulting ‘Pulsar’. According to the information provided by the reliable sources Victim used to run the business of taxi operator outside the casino office at the Panaji jetty and he apparently did not allow anyone to operate the similar business outside the casino, police said that most of the Chimbel residents who are involved into the taxi business would wait outside the casino offices till late night to ferry the casino customers who leaves casino late at night. Police further said that, when customer comes out of the casino, ‘Pulsar’ who has the five taxis would stop all other taxi operators from ferrying the customers as he intent to “monopolize the business around the casino offices”. As a result of this all his opponents got together and staged the attack on him with “Sharp & Deadly weapons” thereby causing the grievous injuries to him.

The police said that Victim was immediately shifted to Goa Medical College hospital and presently he is declared out of danger. Based on the complaint filed by the relative of ‘Pulsar’ one Raju Shaikh police searched the residences of three accused Ashpaq at Taleigao, Taufiq and Nisar but none of them were available at the said palaces. Panaji police searching for all of them and have registered the case under various sections of IPC.

This news went viral on the social media claiming the “Murder in The Casnio at Panaji” but it was half cooked news although the images which were published was sufficient enough to strengthen the claim. Although the social media is good for spreading the information but sometimes the information are not correct.  Nevertheless looking at this incident one thing is clear that the business rivalry is taking very ugly shape in Goa and if this continues the we will have Goa left only with these kind of activities and there is no doubt that the tourism business will hamper badly with that. The government and police machinery needs to implement the proper law enforcement on these anti social elements to make sure that such incidents do not place in Goa again. Here in this case even the victim is as much responsible as the attackers as if he had not created the tussle by stopping others doing the business in that area these incidents could have been avoided. The proper enforcement would have also helped stopping this unwanted thing. I hope this news opens the eyes of law makers and such unauthorized business operators in the future. Please do leave your most valuable comments and suggestions on this very serious issue.
