Speeding Swift Car Hits Three Pedestrians Including a eight Year Old in Ponda

This is the height of a rash and negligent driving wherein the speeding car hits the family of three who was walking on the side of a road and injured them seriously, the injured includes an eight-year-old kid. The driver supposed to have lost control over his overspending swift car and rammed into the pedestrians injuring them grievously.    

Goa has been witnessing plenty of accidents this year. Be it rash driving, potholes on the roads, the deplorable condition of all the roads in Goa, these accidents have resulted in the loss of life, be they young or old.

In an accident reported in Ponda, a family of 3 from Khadapabandh including an 8-year-old girl was injured after a speeding car dashed against them, while they were walking beside the road. This incident happened yesterday evening.

Norman Pereira, a resident of Patantali, was driving the car and was detained by the Ponda Police.

The injured are Samar Bag, 42 years of age, Asha Bag, 38 years of age and Sanavi Bag, the 8-year-old girl who is currently undergoing treatment.

According to the Ponda Police, the incident occurred at around 3.30 p.m. when the family was walking beside the road at Tisk, Ponda near a wayside cross on Tisk-Kavlem road. The swift car that was driven by Pereira was proceeding towards Kavlem, but he lost control of the car and dashed against the Bag family.

The injured family was then shifted to the Sub District Hospital, Ponda. As the woman and her daughter suffered serious injuries the woman and her daughter were shifted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim.

The Ponda Police have registered offenses, under sections 279 and 338 of the IPC, against the driver for endangering lives by driving the car in a rash and negligent manner.

Furthering investigation is underway.
