Hitting the bottle on someone’s head is not as simple as shown in the movies, it could turn out to be highly fatal and the example of the above is a death of 32-year-old Frankie Rebello from Maina- Curtorim after he was hit by the empty bottle on this head by another person called Cruz Fernandes from Cotta-Davorlim. [su_expand more_text=”READ MORE” less_text=” ” height=”0″ hide_less=”yes” link_style=”button” link_align=”center”]A 40-year-old Cruz Fernandes from Cotta-Davorlim was arrested by Maina-Curtorim police late Sunday for the murder of Franky Rebello (32) from the same area. Rebello was declared brought dead by the doctors after being hit by an empty liquor bottle by Cruz Raikar Fernandes. According to Maina-Curtorim police, the deceased and accused were neighbors and accused Cruz hit the deceased Franky with a bottle on his head causing serious injuries. Police said that the incident took place on Sunday night.
According to the sources, PI Harish Madkaikar, Maina Curtorim police station, said that though no immediate motive could be ascertained for the murder, the duel between the two was fallout of some “previous enmity”. Police said that Cruz was having a drink in a bar at Davorlim where Franky also came after some time. He sat near a nearby table; however after some time both entered into arguments following which the bar owner told them to leave and closed the premises. Later both went outside and started arguing and later in his temper, the accused removed an empty bottle which was outside the bar and hit Franky on the head. According to the Police Franky died on the spot due to excessive bleeding. He was however taken to Margao Hospicio Hospital, where the doctors on duty declared him brought dead.
The accused was produced before Judicial Megistrate First Class (JMFC) Margao on Monday evening and his remand was taken. According to the sources, an offence under Section 302 of IPC has been registered and weapon used to kill Franky has been seized by police.
Maina-Curtorim police said that after receiving the information, a team rushed to the spot and arrested Cruz and lodged him in custody on Sunday late night.
