The Maina Curtorim police managed to arrest 6 people involved in the Dicarpale assault case involving the football player Jason Vales. According to sources after 12 hours of the incident Maina Curtorim police claimed to have arrested five people from Dicarpale and main accused Avinash Gunjikar while attaching 18 vehicles. They picked up five persons from Dicarpale and main accused Aviansh Gunjikar while attaching 18 vehicles.

While total six arrests were made so far out of which 5 people, Peter Colaco, Prakash Naik, Mousin Jamkhandi, Edwin Dias and Rozario Colaco were charged for blocking the national highway and damaging the public property while Avinash was arrested in the charges of attempt to murder for brutal assault on Football player Jason Vales.

Goa Prism had published the news about mob protesting at Dicarpale on Monday that lead to blockage of the traffic on national highway for more than 4 hours by the villagers of Dicarpale in the protest of assault on the football player Jason Vales. According to the villagers, the football player playing for the Churchill team was allegedly assaulted by the local bar owner Avinash Gunjikar after a heated argument at Ros-Omelete stall at Dicarpale.

The people in the rage of anger destroyed the public property including the vehicles belonging to the accused. They also ransacked and destroyed the bar and restaurant owned by the family of the accused. The situation became tense and police had to resort to the lathi charge to disperse the crowed.

The whole story started with a verbal scuffle between Jason and Avinash, and ended up with the mob holding the entire traffic ransom on the national highway connecting the Margao and Quepem. In the bargain a police constable also got injured and was admitted to local hospital for treatment.  The reports claims that Mob attacked the police constable since he was video shooting the incident.

Velim MLA, Benjamin Silva visited the police station on Tuesday and demanded the stern action against the accused. “I will be following up the case and the police have assured that they will take action,” he told the media.
