WITH SEVERAL LYNCHINGS TAKING PLACE ALL OVER INDIA, GOA STILL REMAINS A SAFE HOUSE FOR UNITY AND PEACE. BUT, IN A RECENT INCIDENT OUR TEAM CAME ACROSS WITH THE NEWS OF SOME GROUP ANONYMOUSLY DISTRIBUTING THE BROCHURES THAT HAS THE CONTENTS TO INSTIGATE PEOPLE FROM MINORITY COMMUNITY WHICH CAN LEAD TO START THE COMMUNAL RIOTS IN THE STATE. THE BROCHURE EXPLICITLY EXPLAINS THE LYNCHINGS AND SUBLIMINALLY PROMOTES HATE PROPAGANDA TOWARDS A CERTAIN RELIGION.
With Bakri Eid celebrations around the corner, a group of people under the name and banner of Social Democratic Front of India have started distributing brochures that spread wrong and hateful propaganda amongst the Muslim brothers. The brochure explicitly speaks of Lynching and the Cow Slaughtering ban across India. The incident supposes to have taken place at St. Inez Masjid and the same has been reported to the police by Mr. Babani Shaikh, the president of Masjid community in St. Inez.
Goa has always been a place free of communal riots and hate, we celebrate all the festivals equally. Our state being free of Beef Ban there seems no need of campaigns to convince people of their rights. Then why are there brochures being spread asking people to revolt against it, is the concern raised by Mr. Shaikh in his statement to the media.
This smells of political propaganda to play its trump card of divide and rule. All the community including, Hindu, Muslims, and Christians in Goa do not worry about what is on the plates of the other. We Goans are free from judging others based on their religion or food choices.
We saw Sadhvi Saraswati trying to bring in similar kind of hatred into our state, wherein everyone witnessed the power of unity in Goa when everybody stepped forward to express their disagreement.
We all need to unite in a similar way, for this hatred spread through so called the ‘Social Democratic Party of India’ who has mass distributed their brochures with content that can possibly spark riots in the state.
The vigilant residents of St. Inez have intervened in time and stopped the propagator known as Mohamadin, a resident of Margao, who is said to be a part of an organization called Social Democratic Party of India.
The President of the St. Inez Masjid Babani Shaikh told Goa Prism that he saw this person called Mohamadin distributing the brochure at St. Inez Masjid and confronted him about the same. But, the said person escaped from the scene without providing any explanation. The complaint in this regards have been already filed in Panaji police station by Mr. Shaikh and the copies have been given to ATS (Anti Terrorist Squad) and Home Department of Goa.
“We suspect that there is the possibility of the spread of communal disharmony through the distribution of such brochures, if the strict action is not been taken against such people then there is a possibility of sparking of the communal riots in the state,” said Mr. Shaikh while speaking with Goa Prism.
