Managed and run by the Shetye family, this plantation is now over 200 years old and covers an area of 100 acres. We are situated in the village of Savoi which is 25 kms. from the capital city Panjim , 40 kms from Calangute in North Goa and 30 kms from the city of Margao in South Goa. This plantation boasts of a purely organic and natural environment, in which the guests can enjoy nature at its very best. The pond situated within attracts a number of birds of different varieties. Bird watching is one sport the guests can simultaneously enjoy as they explore the spicy world of Savoi Plantation. This plantation which was founded by Mr. Shetye, has opened its gates to the world by Sachin & Sudesh ,since 1985. Thus giving the world a rare opportunity to see within its walls, which includes a terraced field valley, having at its base a large picturesque pond. The families employed are housed in the estate and men and women are seen working their craft which varies during the different seasons. Here Goa’s distinct cultural climate is vividly expressed in its “Hinterland”.

Once their customers are at the plantation they are accorded a traditional welcome of flowers and are offered traditional snacks and drinks. Later they are given a guided walking tour by an expert along a shady path to explore the spicy world of Black Pepper, Cinnamon, Cardamom, Clove, Nutmeg, etc. in their natural environment. And also to enhance the tour are tropical fruits like mango, jackfruit, cashew, papaya, chickoo and medicinal herbs, shrubs and trees.

Part of the tours also includes a demonstration of traditional beetle nut plucking where the person involved swings from tree to tree like your well know – Lord of the Jungle, ‘Tarzan’. Also included in this tour is observation of the traditional methods of making useful as well as decorative items made out of the coconut, besides other materials. Within 30 to 45 minutes guests will experience a brand new world of spicy and fruity environment.

When the sun begins it final journey of the day before setting, the guests arrive at the plantation for a traditional welcome. While the guests enjoy the traditional snacks and drinks they are briefed about the plantation, and later taken for a pleasant evening walk in the plantation briefing about the spices and medicinal herbs, fruits grown in the plantation.

By the time the guest return to the reception area they are greeted to a surprise in seeing the place transformed. Guests are then treated on a fascinating display of dance, music and folklore, in which ancient scenes are enacted and brought back to life. After all that excitement and revelry the guests are treated to scrumptious traditional dinner of mum’s regional dishes and desserts.

The buffet displays traditional Goan ‘Saraswat’ cuisine served in mud pots and banana leaf plates along with seasonal fruits grown in the plantation in an organic environment. All these preparations are made under the proper guidance of the Master Blender Mrs. Shetye. Taste and relish mum’s blended and flavoured regional mouth watering delicacies, that will always make you want for more.
