The name of the accused was furnished by the victim girl who identified him as ‘James’. Pernem police have registered the rape case against the owner of hotel ‘James’.
Police told the media that, the medical report of the victim has come positive. The rape took place in the wee hours of Thursday when the hotel owner ‘James’ entered the room of 24-year-old Russian tourist with the help of a master key.
Police have instructed to the management of the hotel to submit the CCTV footage of Thursday when the alleged incident took place in the hotel. Police informed the media that since the Russian girl (victim) does not speak English she had to seek someone’s help to lodge the formal police complaint.
According to the sources, the victim (Russian girl) had arrived in Goa with a group on April 24 and had put up in the hotel at Morjim where she was allegedly raped by the accused who is the owner of the same hotel.
Pernem police have recorded the statement of the victim girl with the help of an NGO following her medical examination that was conducted at the GMC (Goa Medical College) Bambolim.
