It is very shocking that five days are already over to the Russian tourist rape case and the Russian Consulate in Goa denies of having any information about this incident.  Five days have passed to the horrific incident in which a 25-year-old Russian tourist was allegedly raped by the beach resort owner at his resort in Morjim village.  The accused even after being identified by the police is not yet arrested and the Russian consulate was also not informed about the crime. How this system works? have a look at it in this following section.

But in this case, police did not bother to do the same. Is it not a failure from the part of Goa police? Who is responsible for this?

The Russian lady tourist was raped in the chief minister’s constituency in Mandrem last week. This is what spokesperson for the Russian consulate in Mumbai told IANS over email, “As of current date we have not received either any claims from the mentioned victim or information from the Goan police with the person’s name. Consulate General in Mumbai and Honorary Consulate in Goa is ready to provide this Russian national with any assistance within their competence.”

As registered in an FIR, Russian national who had arrived in Goa on a tourist visa, claimed that she had been raped by James, owner of a beach resort in Morjim on Thursday April 28. The incident occurred in victim’s hotel room when resort owner used a master key to gain access to her room and allegedly raped her.

Senior police officials have refused to comment on the issue, despite requests from media persons, Russian consulate officials, including honorary Russian consul in Goa Victor Albuquerque, claim they have not heard about the case before from the police department, which is ordinary practice for all the cases.

Albuquerque has told IANS, “We have only learnt about it from the media. We have not been informed about the case by the police at all, which is unfortunate.”

As said by the police sources the accused is still on the run and lookout notice is being issued against him.

Morjim village in North Goa is a popular haunt for tourists from Russia and every year nearly 1.5 lakh Russian tourists visit the coastal state from October to March.
