Running away from home, while it sounds liberating and glamorous, is not fun. You’ll be sleeping on the street, looking out for food, and life certainly won’t be easy. Such cases have been rising in the country especially among the teens. In yet another case, a 14-year-old minor girl who ran away from her home in Porvorim was traced by the Porvorim police within 24 hours from Prabhadevi in Mumbai. The incident came to light when the parents of the minor found their daughter missing since early morning on Saturday when she had left the house for school. Read the complete report here.
According to Jivba Dalvi, PI of Porvorim Police station said that a father gave a complaint that his minor daughter was missing since early morning on Saturday as she had left for school at 7 am from her house in Porvorim. On receipt of the complaint, Porvorim Police registered a FIR under section 363 of the Indian Panel Code and section 8 of The Goa Children Act 2003 and a later investigation was taken up. Porvorim Police immediately alerted all possible sources including the neighboring states.
Porvorim Police acted swiftly and by early evening traced the minor victim at Prabhadevi, Mumbai-Maharashtra. According to a source, during the course of the investigation, police came across a message sent by the girl to her friend saying that she is feeling lonely and that she will run away from home soon. Police said on Saturday that the girl traveled to Mumbai by bus. During the whole rescue operation, one sister namely Agustina Valladares of “Yuvati Shravan” based at Prabhadevi, Mumbai-Maharashtra played a major role in tracing and rescuing the minor victim girl.
The team of Porvorim Police along with the minor victim girl reached Goa and accordingly, arrangements were kept ready to record the minor girl’s statement in the presence of an NGO.
It is because of the swift action that Porvorim Police established contact and rescued the minor girl, and immediately PI Shri Jivba Dalvi deputed the team to proceed to Mumbai by flight.
The entire rescue operation was headed and carried out by Porvorim Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi, SDPO Porvorim Shri Nelson Albuquerque, and SP North Shri Umesh Gaonkar.
