The RSS leader in Goa Shubhash Velinger has come out with the controversial statement saying, “do not allow the BJP on your doorstep”. “Don’t allow these people (BJP) on your doorstep during the election. They have betrayed the trust of the voters who got them elected in 2012 election because they promised regional languages as MOI,” RSS Goa chief Subhash Velingkar told a gathering organized by Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM) at Mandrem in North Goa on Saturday.

The BBMS supporters want the regional language to be promoted through the medium of instruction in the School. They have started the statewide campaign against the MOI policy in Goa. The beginning of campaign started from CM Parsekar’s constituency, Mandrem.

According to the sources, Velingkar said the BJP-led state government had assured 12 different incentives for schools in Konkani and Marathi languages when it completed four years of its rule. “But not a single paisa has been budgeted for these incentives. The announcement was a mere eyewash,” he alleged. “Now this is agitation of Goan people. We have decided not to bear the lies,” he said adding that “BJP leaders are responsible for their own downfall in the state.”

This is not the first time Velingkar came out with the ruthless statements against the ruling government in the state, earlier he criticized the Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and state government over this issue of MOI.

According to the news published in the Hindustan Times The BBSM meeting at CM’s constituency  has warned the government to stop grants to English-medium schools before the academic year starting June 2016 or face grave repercussions in the coming general elections. The speakers also came down heavily on former chief minister and defense minister Manohar Parrikar for being a puppet in the hands of the archbishop of Goa.

Reportedly, BJP Lok Sabha MP from south Goa Narendra Savaikar had taken the serious note of Velingkar’s criticism.  A section of society in the coastal state backs English as a medium of instruction in schools. The state government has given grants to such English medium schools, a move opposed by BBSM.
